„DIVERS” oder "KEINE ANGABE" - new publication
The brochure ‘’Divers’ or “no indication”? Legal information, everyday experiences and community tips on the gender entry ‘diverse’, the open entry and the regulations of the SBGG’ has been published. The State Coordination Inter* in the Queer Network Lower Saxony, the State Coordination Inter* NRW and the State Coordination Trans* NRW have published this in cooperation.
In April 2024, the ‘Gesetz über die Selbstbestimmung in Bezug auf den Geschlechtseintrag (SBGG)’, or Self-Determination Act for short, was passed and came into force on 1 November 2024. This will make it much easier to change the gender entry and first names in the civil status register. There are four options for a gender entry: ‘male’, ‘female’, ‘diverse’ and ‘no indication’.
In the first part of the brochure you will find the most important contents and regulations of the new Self-Determination Act and information on how the new procedure for changing first names and civil status will work. The second part of the brochure contains questions, answers and legal categorisation of everyday situations with the gender entry ‘diverse’ and the open gender entry.
The text was written by Kathrin Niedenthal (www.kanzlei-niedenthal.de) and Cai Schmitz-Weicht (www.freizeile.de) in consultation with the publishing specialist centres. The layout and illustrations were designed by Eli Alaimo Di Loro @boy_gogh. The brochure contains tips from various specialised and community tipps.
